A trust built to transform livelihoods
Rehoboth Trust Tanzania (RTT) is a non-governmental organisation working to advance economic transformation. We build the capacity of communities to unleash their economic potential, and provide practical solutions that move societies towards economic empowerment — complementing the Government’s efforts to achieve Tanzania’s National Development Aspirations.
Working alongside the Government of Tanzania and other stakeholders, we deliver programmes in economic empowerment and youth employment. These respond to challenges that surface as unemployment and underemployment, poor living and working conditions, and the absence of a joined-up approach.
Our aim is direct: to pass on entrepreneurship skills, widen access to financial services, and increase the number of young women and men in productive self-employment or waged work.
Who we serve
Young people and women in Tanzania — those most exposed to landlessness, financial exclusion, child labour in agriculture and migration, and who carry the heaviest share of the employment challenge.

What we do
Three pillars of our work
Every RTT programme rests on resource mobilisation, evidence, and the capacity of the people we serve.
Fact-Finding
We carry out fact-finding on the social and economic questions facing Tanzania, including how to unleash the economic potential of rural communities.
Those findings inform recommendations for transforming the social and economic position of the rural poor, and support evidence-based decisions that make the most efficient use of available resources.
Capacity Building
We raise awareness of self-esteem, wealth creation, and the social and economic policies that prompt key players to act on their responsibilities.
We address the socio-economic and development issues affecting young people and women, pass on entrepreneurship skills, and promote a knowledge-based approach to programme design and delivery.
Our approach
Rehoboth theory of change
Our theory of change rests on a commitment to contribute effectively and efficiently to youth employment. The barriers to finding work are widely shared, but young people bear the heaviest cost — through landlessness, financial exclusion, child labour in agriculture and migration.
We respond with a differentiated, context-specific approach to youth-sensitive programming, built around four interventions:

Capital for youth-owned enterprises and start-ups.

Investment in modern tools, including ICT.
Together these interventions increase the impact of our investment in the social and economic empowerment of young people, and mainstream a youth focus across everything we do.
